Meet April Thomas, MSN, APRN
Managing Partner, Element Primary Care
April Thomas is a board-certified family nurse practitioner and a managing partner of Element Primary Care. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loyola University in Chicago and her master’s degree from Creighton University in Omaha.
April has spent much of her career in community health settings, providing primary care to high-risk patients with limited resources. Through these experiences, she developed strong patient relationships to better understand her patients’ needs and improve their healthcare experiences. She recognizes that physical health cannot be separated from mental, emotional, or socio-economic well-being, leading her to adopt lifestyle medicine and integrative and functional medicine principles.
April practices with a whole-person approach, acknowledging the complex factors influencing health, wellness, and disease. She fosters a partnership between patient and provider, often pairing pharmaceutical treatment of chronic illnesses with nutritional, lifestyle, and environmental changes to enhance the body’s innate ability to heal. April has a particular interest in metabolic diseases, such as diabetes, and is passionate about improving the primary care experience for patients with mental illness.
